Edna La'trice owens, founder of reap
Founded in the Fall of 2012 by Edna La'Trice Owens, REAP is driven by her unwavering dedication to empowering individuals and families in need. With over 20 years of experience working with children and young adults in challenging circumstances, Ms. Owens is deeply committed to her civic duty and lifelong responsibility to help those who are often overlooked.
Ms. Owens has extensive experience in the juvenile justice and foster care systems, where she has provided social services and community resources to families, youth, and parolees seeking employment. Her work has always been centered on the belief that every person has the potential to succeed when supported by their community and connected to the right opportunities.
A passionate advocate for volunteerism, Ms. Owens has mentored underserved youth at local Boys & Girls Clubs and through various other mentoring programs. Her approach to work is rooted in relationships based on respect, dignity, authenticity, and trust. She is inspired by the quote, "You Teach More with Your Life, than with Your Lips," which reflects her belief in leading by example and being a true role model for those she serves.
Her hopes for the families of REAP are simple: that they, too, will reach their full potential and live the life they dream of. Through REAP, she aims to equalize the future for children and families, offering them the support they need to build brighter futures.
As a proud mother to her son, Qualen, and grandmother to her three beautiful grandchildren—Zaylen, Zaniah, and Zyon—Ms. Owens draws her greatest motivation and inspiration from her family. They are her constant reminder of the importance of giving back and creating a positive impact in the world.
Ms. Owens holds a Master of Education in Counseling, a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Psychology, and is currently a candidate for Licensure in Professional Counseling (LPC).
