I’m a firm believer that God places people in your life for a reason when I met Ms. Owens quickly without even asking her first she became MAMA OWENS to me. I come from an environment where I’ve always had to question whether not I was truly loved... the minute I step into her office my anxiety exits my body because love is in the air. You rarely meet women, or humans in general with a spirit like hers. Although I’ll be graduating soon I pray that she’s apart of my village for a lifetime. I recommend her for any and every job where caring is a requirement. With all the love I have in me, sincerely Earl The Poet.

I've witnessed firsthand the impact La'Trice Owens has on not only students but everyone who works with her. Her warmth and empathy is noticed by all those she encounters. Most of all, she has the gifts of perception and discernment that allow her to zero in on students' needs and develop a plan of action.

Ms. Owens has helped me through difficult times in both my professional and personal life, and I've witnessed her do the same for many others. Her compassionate spirit makes her a light that people flock to for help, and she is always there to provide.

Life Changing! La'Trice you and the services you provide have truly changed my life for the better. Your compassion, knowledge, and willingness to help is beyond words. Thank you for providing a safe space, a listening ear, and sound guidance. I am grateful to know you and wish you and REAP much success.

  • Shawanna Sampson (Thursday, December 13 18 01:41 pm EST)

Where do I even begin with acknowledging the strong character and person of integrity that La'Trice is... when I think of all of the women I know and I think of how many of them have remained consistent throughout my years of knowing them La'Trice is the first person to come to mind. She has high standards and holds a high regard for others. La'Trice has always shown compassion towards everyone that she encounters. I admire how she is courageous in her beliefs, she is honest and fair, she maintains self respect and at the same time she always respects others. She carries the gift of patience and perseverance. La'Trice is very easy to relate to and easy to talk to. With all of these great characteristics I am blessed to know her and the blessing that she is to our community.

  • Tilly Shamblen (Friday, July 20 18 12:50 am EDT)

I have known La’Trice for a little over a year now. I’m very blessed to call her my friend. I can’t adequately put into words how much she has helped me grow as a person. She builds people up. La’Trice exudes confidence and is relatable at the same time. She stands up for doing the right thing and for what she believes in. I’ve seen how her confidence impacts others, and people feed off of that energy. For me, it makes me feel empowered to stand up for myself and my worth and not let others define or use me. Even when I’m not feeling the best and having a tough day, La’Trice has a way of getting me to see the bigger picture and the positive side.
In addition, La’Trice has a very caring heart. She truly enjoys helping people. She has helped me through the hardest and darkest time of my life earlier this year. While my family and friends had the best of intentions, they were quick to advise or brush off what happened. But La’Trice listened and empathized which is exactly what I needed. That I will never forget and am so grateful for. ?

  • Adrianna Rodriguez (Sunday, July 15 18 05:01 pm EDT)

There are so many positive things I can say about La’Trice. We have known one another for a little over two years and in that time frame she has been my go to person, my confidant. She is a great listener and a person with great advice and wisdom. She’s that positive light you need when times get hard and she’s that person to make you laugh even when you thought you couldn’t. A friendship that I will forever be grateful for and one that I plan to hold on to for a life time. Thank you La’Trice for being the person you are!

  • Amanda (Saturday, January 17 15 03:30 pm EST)

So amazing! Ms. Owens your compassion towards people is beyond words. You have always been very understanding and fair in helping others. I will never forget when I called you (very late) one day and
you never showed any signs of frustration like some people would have. I was going through some really tough times and you listened and never passed judgement. My children adore you and so do I! If
there is anything that I can do to assist you with this great organization please don\'t hesitate to call me. I mean it! Please don\'t ever change and please don\'t give up on our youth! They need
    you!

    God Bless You Ms. Owens

    Love,

La'Trice-You are one amazing woman! I am so inspired by you and I am so proud to call you my friend. You are very good at what you were called to do and how you lead young girls by your example as
well as by your knowledge is commendable! I know the Lord has big plans for you. Congratulations on your accomplishments.

Exalted is she who has found the Pleasure of Nobility
    (A testimony of E.L.O.)

When it was my time to swim, she fostered that.
Although I wasn't her own, she wore Mama's hat.

From Plano Tex, to San Antone,
    She called me her own
    And gave me a home

In my ME-ME’s eyes, I could do no wrong.
She put me on, and on and on

Proved how people do Love in this life for free!
    When I couldn't see
    Together we found clarity

    When every night
    Was a fight
    She shined Bright
    Christ-light!
Since day one has done right
    By me

Bound and blind she showed me my salvation.
    Took down all the bindings
Now we have passed the situation.

Nurtured my young mind to connect pieces now and past
I thank you for seeing in me what I never knew I had
    I’m glad!

well. La'Trice you have a heart full of love!

God Bless You & I Am Praying For You.

Ms. La'Trice is the epitome of an outstanding woman and mentor. She has enforced the drive that I have as a young mother to finish school and never put my dreams on hold because of the obstacles that
I may have in life. She gives me breaths of hope watching her accomplish the goals that she has set for herself. She guided me through my new experience of college. As a mentor I truly look up to her
and she inspires me because she is very in touch with me and my life. She cares how my well being is as a person and mom and I love her for that. The School-Age Parent Program was a success because
of Ms. La'Trice and how she touches the lives of everyone. Ms. La'Trice has been a second mother to me and my daughter by providing me with support and guidance through out my entire high school
pregnancy and even after as I have progressed to college. When I accomplish my goals I plan to be just like Ms. La'Trice and help teen mothers based upon my experience. Hopefully, I can touch lives
    as she has blessed mine!

  • Paz (Sunday, April 28 13 01:07 pm EDT)

I have known Ms. La'Trice for over 6 years, it was a bit before I graduated in 2006. Ever since I met her she has always been very helpful, understanding, and sincere. I have grown to appreciate her
help and her as a person that my nick name for her is God-Mother. Even though I was no longer in the program or in PISD I can still call her to see if she can work her little wand and help me out.
For example when my daycare caseworker messed up and canceled my daycare she called for me to get a hold of her contact. Not a lot of people would go the extra mile for us, and by us I mean the
students or ex-students of the program, but thankfully we can with Ms. La'Trice. She is also a good listener and wonderful motivator when I feel down or sad. Oh and not to mention she is extremely
good with kids and loves to keep in touch with us and see them grow. I have never seen her in a bad mood, angry, or take out her stress on anyone, and that is a big deal. No matter how she feels she
always has this amazing smile, a shoulder for us to cry on, and a positive attitude. Her concern for the students she works with is always sincere and I appreciate all the help she does for us, even
more for me. Thanks to her help high school was less stressful and my little problems every now and then were easier to deal with.

Thank You Very Much Ms. La'Trice for everything you do for us. You're a Wonderful Woman!

    Paz C.

  • Olivia (Sunday, April 07 13 12:12 pm EDT)

    Ms. La'Trice,

I just want to tell you how much you mean to me and that I consider you my second mom. I can come to you with any problems and you always tell me things will get better. You have helped me build my
confidence up and taught me that being a single mom with two kids may be hard & have its downs, but to every down there is always a positive outcome. If it wasn't for you I would've never wanted
to finish school, but you inspired me & now I have a high school diploma, I'm enrolled into college & started my own career because I want my kids to look at me & say "I'm proud you're my
mom." Ms. La'Trice you've helped me & guided me through the years & I plan on having you in my life always and you'll even be invited to my wedding whenever that will be. I love you Ms.
La'Trice & thank you for everything!!!

I've very much enjoyed our chats. God shines through you. REAP is AWESOME!

    Thank you for being you.

  • Alexandria (Wednesday, March 13 13 09:54 am EDT)

I've always had issues doing things for myself. I use to let people do things for me out of fear for doing things for myself. It was a stupid fear, but with how I was raised it's understandable. Over
the past few years with everything that has happened to me I had gotten worse. I was living with a friend and I had a son. I was introduced to Ms. La'Trice and she provided me with a stable place to
live. I was forced to make decisions for myself and to make things happen. She accepted me into the Transition Home and I was expected to do certain things to help better myself , but in a way I
still had that people doing things for me attitude. With my weekly meetings with Ms. La'Trice I quickly got over that and started growing up some and depended less on adults. Even though she helped
me with a lot of things like having a place to stay, helping me to be a better mom, encouraging me to get a job and go to school, and giving me support that I have always wanted. One of the main
things that matters to me is learning how to make decisions for myself and make things without depending on others to do it for me. So I say thank Ms. La'Trice & I will never forget you.

opportunity to work with her. Thanks to her she has given me a better understanding about the work field and the tools I will need to use. And I would like to say that Ms. Latrice is a excellent
counselor from giving me leads and good tips to help me out on my quest for a better life and career. Simply I would like to say is thank you for giving me knowledge and advice she has wisdom for her
age and has shared it with me skillfully and she is strong too! She is very helpful and I am thankful for all the help she has been.

  • Shaquanna (Tuesday, February 19 13 11:54 pm EST)

Ms. La'Trice has impacted my life in many ways. When I first met her I think I was in 9th grade at Williams, and she was understanding and made sure I had everything I needed. When I was struggling
at home, she was the first one I called because I trusted her, and I knew she would help me on a personal level. She got me doing the right things in life, and she told me I have to understand where
people are coming from. I can't just catch an attitude with everybody. Ms. La'Trice treated me and my son like we were her children. She looked out for us when we needed it the most. She helped me to
understand that I don't have to act like somebody I'm not. She didn't judge me on what I did, instead she gave me tips on how to succeed in life. I appreciate her for making me a better person and
helping my son the most. I think I put Ms. La'Trice through a lot, because I would always do something that was unnecessary, but she would always correct me. I've graduated from high school and if it
wasn't for her I wouldn't even have made it this far. She helped me appreciate what I have and understand that I have to listen. I thank Ms. La'Trice for her time, dedication to helping me, and
understanding and love she shared with me. She is like my mom because I can go to her for anything.

  • Lorena E. (Tuesday, February 19 13 12:16 pm EST)

Ms. La'Trice, thanks for being there for me when I needed you. With all of your help and efforts I found the strength to keep striving hard in school and to keep going no matter the obstacles in life
and finally graduate. I know you told me after the 1st baby, "No more babies.", and then months later out comes baby #2, but now for sure I tell you No More Babies! They are a great responsibility in
life and I clearly know and learned that with experience and even though they are a handful, like you said, they are a blessing! Thanks to all your motivation to keep going, you helped me with
daycare issues, got me a great mentor (Sonya) and even helped me with baby items for my daughters. You always told me to keep my head up, keep working hard and that it would all pay off, and I now
know! I am a graduate and I'm even going to college. I believe it now when you told me that I'm a "Super Mom", it does seem true after all! Thanks for all your help, we love you VERY MUCH!

  • Tiffany (Sunday, February 10 13 12:33 pm EST)

Ms. LaTrice you are very helpful, inspiring, the nicest person I have ever met. Very respectful, easy to talk to etc. You helped me in so many ways, you helped me to understand the true meaning of
life. A role model to my life. I look up to you and admire how strong you are and sometimes wish I was ast strong. Always there for me and very understanding. Honestly I look up to you as the mother
I never had. No matter how your day is going you respect me in every way possible plus more. You gave me a opportunity I will never forget and I appreciate everything even little things. I can run
and talk to you about anything and even though you haven't been through it you still understand where I'm coming from in certain situations. I just wanted to say thank you for all you have done for
me. God Bless You & Thank You!!

  • Amber (Monday, February 04 13 10:24 am EST)

through alot of hard times. I am glad I met you. I am happy to have someone like you in my life. God is going to bless you for what you do for people in need. I likde the fact that you always check

    forget it.

  • Vanessa (Sunday, January 27 13 01:50 pm EST)

2 years ago I walked into the building of a local transitional living program. I was distraught and broken struggling in the home situation I was in. I was a child with very little hope who couldn’t
see the positives of the future. I walked into Ms. La Trice’s office as a 19 year old lost and hopeless soul. A year and a half later I left that office on my way to start my first semester at the
University of Texas at Dallas and to go decorate my brand new apartment. I can honestly say through Ms. La Trice’s weekly counseling, support and friendship she showed me a silver lining of life I
have never seen before! I looked forward to our sessions and month by month I could feel myself being molded into the woman I am today. Like a mother she taught me life skills for confidence,
relationships, self growth, independence and goal completion. Most of all she gave me hope and when I was hopeless and equipped me with countless tools to reap a harvest of my own. Without her faith
in me I don’t know where I would be. I honestly don’t think she will ever know how much she changed my life. Thank you for not giving up on me when everyone gave up on me. I can’t wait to hear about
how this angel changes the life of countless others. And how they become better people and change the community. Let the chain reaction begin.

  • Adrianne Taylor (Sunday, January 27 13 12:58 pm EST)

Well, what can I not say about Ms. LaTrice. I am a 36 year old woman that needed help, and sometimes I still do. Ms LaTrice played a very important part in my life as well as my children. She not
only encouraged me to better myself, but she will do all that it takes to get you to do so. I consider Ms LaTrice my friend, sister, and mentor. I dont care when, where, and how she was always there
without a mumbling word. If I needed or need anything at anytime she was there without a problem or excuse. I could go on, and on about how this young lady has inspired my life. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR
ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME!!!! I am so grateful to have such a person in my corner!!!! MS. LATRICE IT IS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT I HAVE A SON WHO IS IN COLLEGE, AND A DAUGTHER THAT KNOWS SHE CAN DO AND BE
ANYTHING THAT SHE WANTS TO BE WITH A GOOD EDUCATION AND GOD!!!!! Ms LaTrice you have truly changed my mind set, and the way I veiw things now. Thanks for being so positive even when I wanted to be
    negitive.

  • Denyenoh Wreh (Friday, January 25 13 06:42 pm EST)

I met Ms. Latrice while living at a transitional living program for young adults and she was one of the councelors for our therapy sessions. She was very different from any of the other counselors
because she actually enough to learn about us so that she could better help us solve whatever issues and dilemmas we were facing. She constantly advised me on different aspects of motherhood such as
how to be a loving, playful young mother to my son and still demanding his respect as his mother. She also taught and encouraged me to always value myself and set standards within all my relations
especially my friendships and romantic relationships. She has always been realistic and honest with me (even when I don't want to hear it)which has allowed me to avoid a lot of petty mistakes keeping
my mind clear and my eyes opened and focused on obtaining any goals that I set for myself. She has assisted and is always willing to selflessly give to me and my son whenever we are in need. Because
of the loving and nonjudgemental heart that Ms. Latrice has shown me and my son Elijah, I just love being close to her and still now cannot fully be sure of my major decisions unless I hear her say
that it is ok. I thank Ms. Latrice for being that powerful woman figure who is even more than a mother to me as a young girl finding herself in this great big world and now even more as a woman still
    searching for answers.

Founder's Message

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." – Galatians 6:9

As the founder of R.E.A.P., this verse has been a guiding principle throughout my journey. It reminds me that the work we do—no matter how challenging or difficult—has purpose, and the impact of our efforts will be felt when the time is right.

At R.E.A.P., we believe in the power of perseverance and the importance of sowing seeds of hope, love, and support in the lives of those we serve. Through each program, each interaction, and every act of kindness, we are investing in the future of our youth and families.
